NYC Advasion
Task: plan 60 student industry immersion trip to New York City to visit ad agencies and attend national career conference
I was able to work with our AAF chapter’s faculty advisor to allow our group of students to visit advertising agencies based in NYC and, for the first time, attend the AAF National’s annual Student Advertising Career Conference.
I hosted a NYC Advasion Info Session where we told students about the agenda, the pricing, and the anticipated timeline. I launched the application on a first-come, first-served basis the following day at 8 AM. We had hit our 60 limit of applicants within 30 hours of the launch!
Spreadsheets! I had 60 students to coordinate with not only our faculty advisor, but also AAF Nationals for the Student Advertising Career Conference. I had many different spreadsheets to keep myself, and thus the entire trip, organized. I made sure each and every attendee paid, had their flights by a certain date, roomed with a person of their choice, etc.
The week of the trip, I hosted a final “etiquette” meeting. We met as a group and went over our NYC game plan. This included topics such as:
How to dress
Meeting times + locations
What to expect
Networking tips
Responsibilities
NYC tips
